GES Tentatively Pushes Reopening Date for Certain Senior High Schools to April 23


The Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed an adjustment on the reopening date of selected Senior High Schools (SHS), moving it up to April. As part of measures to cater to academic scheduling issues, this change policies affects a number of schools nationwide.


Underlying Causes of the Postpone



In GES’ words, the decision aims to improve the planning and resource allocation in aid to the affected schools. Some institutions may need additional time to finish maintenance work, while other institutions are scrambling to adjust their calendars to facilitate optimal academic engagement.


What Is in Store for The Parents and Students


1. Parents might find it easier to manage the irrigation fees, traveling plans and other logistics concerning their children arriving back to school within the expected time range with out of the expectations. 


2. Increased Leave – Students having extra time out of school can either rest or catch up on other things.


3. Shifted Academic Calendar – GES has the responsibility of shifting the academic calendar to new changes while doing their best to limit learning disruption.
